Your privacy at Wrist of the Day
Wrist of the Day is a watch collection and wear journal operated by Douglas Christian. Wrist of the Day is the working name of the service, not a separate company. For privacy questions or requests, email hello@wristoftheday.com.
What you provide
We process your email address and account authentication information, your collection, watch details, photographs, wear history, notes, preferences and any purchase, value, servicing or insurance details you choose to record. Your browser also stores a local copy and unsent edits so saving can recover after a connection problem. Avoid including information you do not need in your journal or photographs.
Your journal and original photos are private to your account. Sharing a post, profile or photo is a separate choice. We process your public handle, profile, posts, comments, follows, likes, sharing choices, reports and moderation records when you use those features. The audience you choose can see shared material; recipients may keep their own copies. We also keep links to shared watch-model records. Those records describe watch models, rather than who owns them.
Why we use it
We use account and journal information to provide sign-in, save and restore your collection, show your reports and deliver the sharing features you request. We use technical request, error and security information to operate the service, prevent abuse and resolve problems. Authentication uses necessary session cookies. This version does not add analytics cookies, session recording, advertising tracking or a PostHog event export.
Service-improvement totals
A restricted owner summary uses combined account, watch and wear-log counts, successful-save activity and save outcomes. It does not display account identities, individual collections, photos, notes, watch details, financial information or insurance information. The service operator can separately access information when needed to operate the service or handle a verified request.
Activity uses successful saves received by our server during the latest 30 UTC calendar days. A backdated wear log does not establish a visit on its wear date, and opening or reading without saving is not measured. Automatic preference saves and delayed offline edits can count when they reach the server, so these totals do not prove deliberate visits. This reporting window does not delete older records. The summary adds no separate event history or copy of your collection.
Feedback you choose to send
Feedback sends your category and note to Wrist of the Day’s owner, linked to your account so we can prevent abuse and handle privacy requests. If you choose to include diagnostics, we also store a general screen name and app version. We do not automatically attach watch details, photos, page URLs or session recordings. Avoid putting sensitive information in your note.
We retain original reports, group them with simple topic rules and owner review, and count recurring requests to improve Wrist of the Day. Feedback is not sent to an AI service. The owner can change a report’s topic and review status without changing your original note. Reports stay while needed for service improvement or your requests and are included in account closure review. An unsent draft is kept in this browser tab until sent or cleared; it is not sent merely by opening or closing the form.
Optional photo identification
Choosing “Look up watch” sends the selected dial photo and optional caseback photo to OpenAI to suggest watch details, with web research where helpful. It does not send your whole journal. Use manual entry if you prefer not to send these photos, and avoid including people, personal information or unique serial numbers. Suggestions can be wrong; review them before saving.
We send identification requests with response storage disabled. This setting is not a promise of zero retention: OpenAI may retain abuse- monitoring data under its applicable terms and controls. Wrist of the Day keeps a photo fingerprint and cached suggestion to avoid repeated requests and limit abuse. See OpenAI’s API data controls.
Services that process information
Supabase provides authentication, the database and private photo storage. Vercel hosts the application and processes web requests and operational logs. Resend delivers account emails. OpenAI processes the photos you choose for identification. These providers may process data outside your country. Their applicable service terms and data-processing arrangements also govern their handling of information; we do not promise that data stays in a particular country.
How long information stays
Account, journal, photos and related records remain while needed to provide the service and handle your requests. Save receipts contain an account ID, operation ID, request fingerprint, result and server time. They protect against duplicate or delayed retries, including edits from an offline device, and have no separate age-based expiry while your account exists. Thirty days is only the summary’s reporting window.
Account deletion is handled manually after verification and review of any shared-content dependencies or retention obligations. Deleting an account record alone is not sufficient to delete stored photo files. We have not verified a single expiry period for provider backups and operational logs, so cannot promise immediate removal from every backup or log. If information must remain for security, legal obligations or another applicable exception, we will explain the scope and reason in our response. Deleted accounts must not be reactivated by a later restoration without applying the deletion request again.
Your choices and requests
You can edit your collection and sharing choices in Wrist of the Day. The journal JSON export is a copy of journal data; it excludes photo bytes, authentication records and other account and community data. It is not a complete account-data export.
To request access, a copy, correction, deletion or account closure, or to object to or ask us to restrict processing, email the contact above from your account email if possible. Tell us what you need; do not send your password or identity documents unless we agree a secure, necessary verification method. We will verify that you control the account, clarify the request and explain any applicable exceptions. Availability of particular rights depends on the law that applies to you. You may also contact your local data-protection authority.
There is currently no self-service account-deletion or complete-account export page. For closure requests, we will explain the treatment of shared posts, replies and moderation records before irreversible work. A server-side deletion cannot erase downloads, screenshots or unsynced copies already on your devices or held by other people. Clear those local copies separately and do not re-import them if you want them gone.
Changes and questions
We will update this notice when our practices change and identify the revision date here. Please contact Douglas at the address above if anything is unclear or you need help exercising a choice.
